I begin at the UoP online in 2010 to pursue an degree in elementary education. I was told that I first needed to get an associate degree in communications first.

Naive, I worked towards that. In 2011 I had a child with medical issues that several impacted my work, placed on academic probation, but left shortly therefore to care for my child. Over the next several years I tried to attend other schools (because I had accrued over 20K in loans from one year at the school), but no one would take my credits for UoP. I had completed an entire year and had over 24 credits under my belt.

In October 2015 I decided that I would just go back to UoP and finish my degree, at least I'd have one. I was flagged in the financial aid department and needed the gather transcripts from other schools, but despite not having financial aid approval, I was allowed to start school. It took me months to get the transcripts (Holiday season and I couldn't actually speak to a live person), but I was assured that once I turned them and it was approved, the financial aid would cover my class. When my class ended I asked to continue taking classes but was told I would have to wait until after the Winter Break.

Jan 2016 everything has been turned in and I can no longer start classes until the financial aid is approved. It took ONE MONTH for me to get approval. Now it's Feb 2016 and I'm ready to start class again. At this point I've had 3 academic advisers and two financial advisers since October, so in 3-4 I switch people constantly.

My new academic advisor calls me and tells me that I'm STILL on academic probation from 5 years prior. And even if I pass my class with an A; I'll have to take a 6 month leave before being able to continue classes. So my choices were to leave now or waste 5 weeks taking a class and then having to leave for 6 months. None of this was told me prior to re-enrolling in October 2015.

I decided to not take that class and find another school to attend. So basically I wasted almost 6 months with this school for nothing. Today April 1st, 2016 I get a call from a collection agency on behalf of UoP saying I owe them $1400 from the class in October. That class I was told would be covered by the financial aid.

When I called the school they told me since I only took one class, I wasn't eligible for financial aid. Would a load of crock! I was promise and told that financial aid would cover it and now my credit is being compromised! When I asked to speak with a supervisor--they were in meeting...really?

If anyone know how I can sue them or a class action lawsuit I can get in on, please let me know. I was lied to the ENTIRE time! No one had their facts straight and no talked to each other and they certainly didn't talk to me. If you're thinking of attending this school, DON'T!

They'll waste your financial aid and take your money. This is school is ***.

I am a Registered Nurse with Bachelors degree in Nursing. I did enroll and matriculated in University of Phoenix to earn a MSN degree in Nursing Education.

The process of enrollment is seamless and federal financial aid is difficult due to a very low 14% student academic success rate in the University of Phoenix (fafsa.gov, 2016). The enrollment advisor, financial advisor, and academic advisor are well-trained to draw interested student into *** that the student would turn his lifetime decision to pursue education to a worst day ever.

My assumption from my experience and educated calculation(Please email me for more information) High volume of enrollees and low student academic success rate without the OFFICIAL FEDERAL STUDENT LOAN) are the mainframe to yield University income. I strongly suggest to any interested student to be very careful on this University.

Best to avoid online schooling, in my experience. I've never actually attended University of Phoenix, or any of its contemporaries, but I have made the mistake of taking online classes at my university. It seems more convenient at first, but usually causes more problems in the end.

I am dealing with the same situation right now. They offered a secondary program that doesn't lead to licensed teaching but then they told me I don't qualify for that program.

Then they told me I cant transfer because I haven't fulfilled some terms to the government for my financial aid. That I would owe them over 1000$ for the one class I took this semester. I have 35 credits with UOPX, a 3.98 gpa and 79 total credits from this school. I know for a fact I have wasted two years of my life at this school and highly doubt that anyone will take my credits.

Its not like I am going to make a ton of money being an elementary school teacher so they are screwing me for a long long time.

It just sucks im 38 credits from graduation and figured this out the hard way. Next time ill google.
