I am in my first and last block of classes at UoP. I am truly not satisfied because of the rising costs. I was quoted one price and now the tuition is doubling effective July 1, 2009. The way they sucker you in during the admission process is through a book refund on the cost of your books. Well, oddly enough, when you are charged for your next set of classes, you actually owe the school the cost of your books.I was also told that they would take approximately 30 of my credits. Needless to say, they only took 9 of my credits. I had already taken computer, science, and a lot of my major courses, but they only accepted 9 of my credits from a total of two schools. When I enrolled, my major was supposed to be Criminal Justice and my academic advisor had me scheduled for Business Administration. Never was my major changed to Criminal Justice even to this day.
I will be finishing up these two classes and I will be attending another college, who has already accepted 45 credit hours of mine. UoP is a money maker and does not care about you.
If you are currently attending UoP and you are in your first block of classes like me, look around and leave UoP before the next block of classes begin. If they begin and you have not officially withdrawn, you will be charged. Check out other colleges and see how far you can get - UoP is not the way.

1. Written by Make them Pay!, on 04-11-2009 20:08 This place is facing a 250M fine, as well as an 8M fine. Not to worry, they are worth billions, all from the government loans they "helped" their students receive. Listen to NPR, or if you missed it, go the NPR site online, you can probably listen to the report on U of Phoenix there. What a SCAM!! They need to be stopped, so if you have a complaint, now is the time to let the government know. Call your State Attorney General. So many kids now have wasted valuable time they could have spent at a State University actually working toward a legitimate profession.
2. Written by MARY MCC, on 07-09-2009 18:46 I'M SORRY, I HAD TO COME BACK AND MAKE A COMMENT TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAPPEN TO BE "FOR" THE UNIVERSITY. WHY ARE YOU ON PISSED CONSUMERS WEBSITE? YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY PISSED ABOUT SOMETHING...HMMMMM..... "SOMETHING" TRIGGERED YOUR BEING HERE RIGHT? UOP COULD CARE LESS THAT YOU ARE ON THIS SITE BACKING THEM! IF YOU HAVE HAD EVEN AN INKLING OF DOUBT ABOUT SOMETHING THAT "JUST ISN'T RIGHT" ABOUT UOP...WELL, YOU ARE AT THE RIGHT PLACE. HOW STRANGE IS IT THAT FOR THE 8 MONTHS I WAS A STUDENT WITH THEM I HAD MORE FINANCIAL ADVISORS AND ACADEMIC ADVISORS THAN I CAN COUNT ON ONE HAND? HOW IS IT THAT I COULD NEVER GET 1 OF THEM ON THE PHONE TO ANSWER MY CONCERNS FOR MY TUTITION DOUBLING WITHOUT TELLING ME? HOW IS IT THAT THEY WERE NEVER AVAILABLE TO ANSWER THEIR PHONES BUT WHEN I STARTED LEAVING NASTY MESSAGES FOR NO RESPONSE FROM THEM, AND THAT I WAS DROPPING OUT, ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY HAVE TIME TO RETURN MY CALLS? THIS IS NO COINCIDENC FOLKS! THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM! I'VE CALLED WACHOVIA AND SALLIE MAE ABOUT THEM TAKING MONIES THAT WEREN'T EVEN SCHEDULED TO BE PAID RIGHT OUT OF MY ACCCOUNT. THEY DON'T CARE EITHER FOLKS. WHY? BECAUSE WE HAVE TO PAY THEM BACK...WITH INTEREST! THE ONLY THING I HAVE LEFT TO SAY IS THIS FOLKS.... YOUR DEGREE'S WILL GET YOU NOWHERE IN TODAYS MARKET OF JOBS. OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IS SO BEHIND ON THE TRUE TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGES THAT ARE TAKING PLACE RIGHT NOW. WHILE I'M OUT MAKING MY FIRST MILLION, BY WORKING FOR MYSELF, I'LL PAY OFF MY STUDENT LOANS AND TELL THE SO CALLED GOVERNMENT EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM TO KISS MY A!! I WILL HOWEVER, THANK THEM FOR THE GREAT TAX INCENTIVES FOR RUNNING A BUSINESS OUT OF MY HOME.... ![]()
3. Written by MARY MCC, on 07-09-2009 18:26 WOW, SO MANY PISSED CONSUMERS! I'M FINALLY NOT ALONE! UOP IS A TOTAL RIP OFF! THEY HAVE TAKEN SO MUCH MONEY FROM ME THAT IT IS REDICULOUS TO EVEN REMOTELY THINK THAT I WOULD PAY $15,000.00 FOR 8 MONTHS OF AN EDUCATION THAT HAS PROFESSORS NOT EVEN ATTENDING THEIR CLASSES AS SCHEDULED. OUT ON A CRUISE WAS ONE OF MINE! CAN YOU IMAGINE A PROFESSOR GRADING YOUR PAPER WHILE OUT ON A CRUISE GETTING TIPSY?! IF I WAS TO PAY $15,000.00 FOR 8 MONTHS OF AN EDUCATION I SURE AS *** WOULDN'T DO IT ONLINE! FRIGGEN DUH HERE!! THAT MONEY COULD OF WENT TO A UNIVERSITY IN CHICAGO FOR ME THAT ACTUALLY WOULD OF HAD LEGITIMATE CREDITS THAT WOULD PASS ON TO ANOTHER COLLEGE. WHICH MEANS, NO, UOP'S CREDITS AREN'T WORTH CRAP TO A "REAL" UNIVERSITY. WISH I WOULD OF LISTENED TO SOME OF THE FOLKS WHO TRIED TO TALK ME OUT OF GOING ONLINE FOR AN EDUCATION!
4. Written by A.N. Onymous, on 27-08-2009 10:50 How's this sit with everyone. I obtained an Associates from Axia of UoP in Criminal Justice. I then went into the bachelor's program. The BS is exactly that. a big heaping pile of BS. I figured this out and dropped out after failing 1 class (the first and only I ever failed). The program is a sham. It's designed to help those returning to college from being on a long absence. I dropped out in October of 2008. To this day I am still getting calls about coming back. I've stated "no", "*** no", and finally "what part of *** no do you not understand?" Their as bad as telemarketers and have a hard-on for getting money. Everyone needs to do themselves a favor and stay clear of UoP and anything even remotely resembling them.
5. Written by A Mad Student, on 17-08-2009 08:01 I am attending the University of Phoenix on line and I am on the last block of my classes. UOP is a scam and is up to no good I really wish that I could come in contact with other students that have attended the school to get with them and we appear on national TV to let everyone know that UOP is full of you know what. I have a professor that has email me with an apology because of the tone he used during a discussion question, in which he was very rude and to be of such standard he was down right nasty. Anyway I have tried to contact my academic counselor no return calls and I am not going to take the abuse from a professor that think that he is right and no one else right. We are there to learn from them not be shot down like a dog. Well my point is stay away as far away as you can if you decide to go to the UOP especially the online classes it is hard to communicate with anyone and when you do talk to the counselor they tell the most lies and when you catch them in the lie they try to out talk you so you get confused and they think that you do not know what is going on. Right now I want my degree and I am at the point that I can get this degree but they have really upset me so bad that I am sick. Just a warning to anyone thinking about going to the UOP online classes STAY AWAY go to another school . If anyone have any suggestion please let me know . thanks a mad student.

7. Written by Ensightful, on 17-07-2009 13:43 I did not scream on the phone to anyone because you could never get anyone! However, the writing style 12 years ago is the same as today; I know because I graduated about 10 - 12 years ago! No matter how anyone puts it, UoP is not a college but a way to make money.
8. Written by Joseph, on 17-07-2009 13:06 Seems like some really bitter people on here. But then, I've been enrolled since October. The biggest problem people don't realize, is that not everyone is computer savvy. Some of these classes my parents would be looking like a monkey doing a math problem, before giving up on the classes. Some of the classes, like Critical thinking and Research Writing prepare you to format papers into APA format. It's also meant to get you prepared for further classes....you don't think you'll graduate with a degree in Critical thinking, do you? Lastly, I may be a bit old, going back to school after a 13 year layoff. But at the same time, the difference between college then and now is pretty large...but both colleges still have core classes that have to be taken. In the words of Black Hills State, "to make you a more well-rounded student"....and screaming at people on the phone doesn't get good results. Or is that the new talent of this generation, instant gratification?
9. Written by Ensightful, on 04-07-2009 09:24 I understand "Wish I would have read sooner". I cannot imagine getting that far and paying that much money for a class. $1200 per class is outrageous. The college I have enrolled in for the fall is $175 per credit hour (due to a tuition discount with my job, otherwise it would have been $195 per credit hour) with free books as apart of the school's book grant program that ships directly to your door. They are accreditated and recognized by my job and other local employers! Looks like I should have done my research earlier. However, UoP is not a college, it is a place of making money. I have refused to sign up for another block of classes and pay the amount of money they are asking for from students. The counselors are extremely hard to get in touch with, via email or phone. It is just almost impossible to reach anyone dealing with financial aid. I hate that I even enrolled at UoP, but if it helps someone from my experience, then job well done! ![]()
10. Written by Wished I would have read soone, on 04-07-2009 09:09 I am not surprised by the comments on Axia. I have been enrolled for a year now in Axia for Associate arts in elementary education. I feel I have wasted so much time and money trying to educate myself. I am having a lot of problems in the Math classes and I had called to see if I could switch to a ground campus just for the Math I was told that core subjects such as Math are not offered at the ground campuses. I had no problem with billing although I was not offered any perks for enrolling. I have been talking with friends that have since started using their degree and most have said that they their credits from Axia were useless and that some colleges did not accept transferred credits from Axia. I have also noticed that now not only is the tuition gone up but the cost of course materials too. I am going to be paying about 1200 just for one class. I am also noticing that it takes forever to get a hold of your counselors you can leave a message all you want, but that doesn't mean they are going to call you back. I fear that all of this training will be in vain and it makes me angry to think how gulible I was last year. Another way they get you is by offering the materials to you. This really is stupid because not only do you pay more trying to recover the ink you lost printing out a 75 page colored document, but you also waste paper! So where is the savings in this? I talked to my academic counselor about getting the Math textbook she assured me it was not necessary. I just ordered it used on ebay because I could not stand working with loose sheets of reading. Whatever you do please read this article and all other complaints before you sign up and if you are in your first block like the author said get out fast and don't ever think twice.
